Analoge man in a digital world.

Postby Bomber Harris » Fri Sep 14, 2018 11:57 am

Just been told work are giving us new phones, the ones we have are tough little buggers, push button, lost count of the times over the last 12 years I've dropped it and it still comes back for more.
We used to look at a big chart to check our roster and security updates, rules and regs, briefings etc were all paper hand outs as were our wage slips.
Couple of years ago they gave us tablets and all the above is cascaded onto that, saves paper, now we are getting all singing all dancing Smart Phones to combine the two pieces of equipment, don't get me wrong I have one myself, handy item if your out and about with no access to a lap top.
Thing is I hate having to be a prisoner to them, constantly peering at a wee screen instead of thumbing through hard copies and your screwed if you want to compare two bits of info.
To top it all have just been delivered a hire car for this week ends work, it has camera's everywhere a hundred heater buttons and an electric handbrake.

Maybe it's just me and I need to change my name to Curmudgeon Harris. #-o #-o #-o

Years ago at work we all had small PDA's for the jobs and parts ordering. They said we can look up wiring diagrams on them to!!!!! You try to look at 25 pages of wiring on a screen 3" square, told the managers no way.

You are all fractals in my mathematical imagination. I am normal.

Normal is the average, difference is the exception.

Bomber sits in his chair in the drawing room smoking his pipe whilst reading the replies to his post, in the background his two year old son is recreating the apparatus used to perfect the bouncing bomb.

You mean playing with his balls?
