Hello all!

Postby Dode4444 » Wed May 09, 2018 9:54 pm

Hi everyone.

My name is George and I’m from the North East of Scotland and now an owner of a 2004 R1150RT with 30k miles.
Must be honest I know very little about them as I have owned sports bikes for the last couple of years but had a touring itch I just had to scratch.
So far really enjoying it and I’m sure I’ll have a few questions in the upcoming weeks for all you knowledgeable/experienced folks.
Cheers.

Welcome to the forum from Gtr Manchester.
The search facility should answer a lot of, if not most of your queries with the knowledge from contributors to the forum being able to answer/help with anything else.
Better to ask if you are unsure before making the task more difficult than it needs to be
Enjoy the RT.

Welcome to the forum.
I am probably less than 100 miles South of where you are and ride a 2016 R1200RT.
I hope you enjoy the forum, and please consider coming to a "Northern" meet.

Where is it you are? And how often are the meets?

George,

If you can access the BM Riders Club Events calendar, you'll see that there are meets in Scotland - currently Moffat, Biggar and occasionally in Ceres (Fife).

They tend to be on Sundays (to suit people who are still wage slaves) or Tuesday for gentlemen of leisure, shift workers and people who can just skive off for the day.

Next "northern" event is in Biggar. There's a cafe on the main thoroughfare called the Aroma Cafe 86-88 High Street, ML12 6DH. Anyone who wants to attend just has to turn up around mid day to enjoy a late breakfast, lunch or just a cup of tea and there's usually enough turn up for a blether about bikes or anything else.

It might mean a fair few miles for you but, if you're up for it, you'd be welcome to have a pit stop here and we could ride to Biggar together if that would help. I'm in the West end of Dundee.

If you can't make it on the 27th, keep an eye on the calendar and for anyone posting a "anyone want to join me". Since you're one of our most Northerly forum members and live amongst some outstanding countryside, you might want to post a "anyone want to join me". Give a bit of notice and, who knows, you might meet another forum member !

I'm retired, but worked nearly 40 years in oil / gas.
We can compare notes when you can make (or arrange) a meet.

sounds like a plan. 40 years is a long time in oil/gas.... derricks must’ve still been made with wood when you started
