Hi Folks,
After a fair few modern bikes throughout my motorcycling career of almost 45years, I fell in love with “Boxers” when I was just 17! An old boss had a R90RS which he let me use for months, then I was lucky enough to ride bikes in my old career, with my first works bike being the R80RT, many a working day spent on two wheels with a smile on my face.
I’ve now gone back in time and purchased a 1990 R100RT, The bike is in fair condition so I’ve just spent 2 days deep cleaning and setting up a switched live auxiliary circuit and converted the seat to a heated seat (kept the innards from an old electric seat!)
I’ve checked the oils and all seem new, however the spark plugs definitely need replacing, so may I take this opportunity to ask what the best plugs are for the bike, I was told to go for NGK from a friend, but I see the Bosch Super 4 plug is double the price of the NGK - is it better. Any advice welcomed.
Thanks

Hi,
Welcome from me as well.
As for plugs, the spec is for Bosch W7D although I don't suppose the NGK equivalent would make a lot of difference. If the bike has standard BMW plug leads (or other resistor leads... or resistor plug caps) you shouldn't use resistor plugs but if it doesn't, then resistor plugs will reduce the chances of frying your coil and/or ignition unit. There is a margin for experiment with heat range but I've never found any benefit from going outside the spec.
If you want more advice or opinions, you would do well to post the question in the 'Airheads Q & A's' forum list.
