Our Man in Sweden?

Postby Kev Winterburn » Fri Apr 25, 2014 10:08 am

HI All

I'm currently spending most of my time in Sweden although still have a presence in Warwickshire and will return at some point. I'm also in the process of swapping my RT for a GS. In the mean time as well as BM Riders, I am a member of VMCK Jonkoping, a motorcycle club with it's own club house and campsite for motorcyclists. There is an opportunity here for individuals, or groups from BM Riders. I work as a campsite warden including bookings, and am involved with their web site as the English language contact. That applies to bookings also.

I wanted to fire of a flare that I can help with bookings, including an official BM Riders club event. I would be pleased to coordinate the Swedish end if people are interested.

Planning a Scandinavian trip? Any questions about the area, or wider region, I am happy to chat.

Wishing all friends at BM Riders a great 2014 season, and see you soon, one way or another.

Hi Kev,

I will be visiting Sweden this July/August on my way to Finnland.
However the route is planned and the hotels are booked.
I will ride from Holland through Germany and Denmark, crossing the bridges into Sweden.
I will follow the coastline to Stockholm and to the ferry to Aland.
From there taking another ferry to Brando and from there to the mainland.
On my way back I'll take the ferry from Helsinki to Travemunde.

Hi Kev,
It would be great if we could have a Rally in Sweden! Thanks for volunteering your services, if I can save up for a GSA I might be very tempted!

+1 That is very hospitable and sounds very attractive.

However, for us in Scotland and the North of England, there is no longer a ferry from Newcastle to Esbjerg in Denmark, we would have to travel to Harwich for the Harwich-Esbjerg ferry.

There is a ferry from Newcastle - Ijmuiden (Amsterdam) though but that might involve just as much travelling as going to Harwich.

Scotland used to have many East coast ports trading with the Baltic countries and Russia from the Middle Ages up until the Union. Sadly, those in Scotland now have to travel large distances and incur greater expense to access a ferry to the Continent.
Hopefully this issue might be addressed in the near future.

Hi Kebin
we talked about you at the Loch Ken gathering last week and remember you with affection.

A few of us would like to come over but, Cost, Time, Distance all need addressing, especially as Ced reported no sensible ferries.

BTW I get span mails from your address from time ti time, not a problem, just letting you know.
