First 1032 miles on the RTP in a short break

Postby ilkleyal » Thu May 28, 2015 8:13 am

Well, I know I got a good one now., I had only done 150 miles on this bike before leaving last Saturday.

Just back from a 4 night short tour based in Galway of a whisker over 1000 miles.
No issues other than one headlight bulb failing on the 3rd day and the starter sometimes drops out, happened probably 4 times in a hundred starts.
I suppose I need to whip it out again and really go to town on the solenoid but this can wait until the bike is in hibernation in the winter.

So, at 64,500 miles the bike handles and goes very well indeed kept up with my mate on his new VFR on all the twisties, he couldn't believe how such a bike can handle so well.
I remember my 1100RT was good, this is even better.

Happy days
Al

Hi Ced
Sure is, towards the end of the trip it felt like a light weight bike  feels like it's what I'm supposed to have. I've done more tours on RT's than any other bike and in the last 9 I have done 4 on boxers, 2 on the 1100RT, one on the 1150 GS and now this so a pattern is definitely emerging

Had it to the edgeds of the tyres on the road to Clifden and was well impressed,
Did a circular from Galway, out along the coast to Clifden then back on the A59.

Just one of 4 great rides in the few days.
Al
