Having done the service on Brunhilde', new points, plugs etc and reset the timing & carbs last month today was the first chance for me to take her out for a proper road test, being as thermometer has dipped below 25C.
Started up nicely and off we jolly well. Down the road to the A5086 to Cockermouth, no problems, accelerated smoothly, (no stuttering as she did).
On to the A66 at outside Cockermouth and headed towards Keswick.
Light traffic, so swiftly up to 60, great.
Nobody looking so time to mess about, dropped the speed to the upper 30's then wound her up to 75,

. Absolutely no problems except for some minor vibration when you drop the speed in 5th gear then accelerate, but like every other engine they never like being put under that kind of strain.
Alongside Bassenthwaite Lake to the roundabout outside Keswick then along the other side of Bassenthwaite Lake to the A595 at Bothel.
Stopped in a lay-by for a wet and a tab, had a chat to a pair of biker chaps from the Nederlands who were on their way to Scotland, another wet and off home cruising nicely at a steady 60/65 along the A595 and A66.
Absolutely bang on.
Time for a nice cool glass of Spitfire
