For nearly 30yrs Hazel and I had a Friday night visit or phone call from Phil unless either was on holiday. He will be sadly missed by us. We have so many memories over those years.

I have just got back from holiday and heard about this. I only know Phil from the forum but he was full of knowledge on airheads and would help in any way. Condolence's to his family on their loss.

Re: RIP Boxerman
Does anyone that will be attending Phil's sendoff have the time/ability to print off the many tributes to Phil, so that it can be in a book and presented to his family, so that they are aware how much he was respected by all. Many thanks in advance. We will be with you in spirit on the 30th
Sheila

Re: RIP Boxerman
Having been away from the forum for 3 weeks I, like everyone else, was stunned to read this very sad news just now. As a founder member (membership no 3) I recall setting up the club and forum with Phil and throughout the years he remained steadfast in his commitment to foster enthusiasm for all things BMW whilst discouraging the unpleasantness which can afflict some sites. He was knowledgeable, generous of his time and wisdom, had a keen sense of humour, and spent many, many hours in maintaining this forum. I have a feeling that his loss will be felt well beyond this site. Sadly I cannot make the funeral on the 30th but will be thinking of his family and friends.
Regards,
Jim Coleman

Re: RIP Boxerman
Hi all,
I'm planning to be at Phil's place around 11am for his funeral.
Luckily for me, Phil lived not far from me (I live in Coventry) and when, as a novice biker, I bought my first bike - a 1982 R100RT - it was Phil who I went to see to have the bike checked over prior to my first big trip - 3,000 miles to Sweden and back via Berlin. Phil checked it over and simply said she looked fine but that I should see him again on my return to have the timing chain replaced!
I returned to see Phil several times for help with the bike and was not only impressed with his obvious skills around bikes but also the warm way he always welcomed me into his home. The kettle always went on first for a cuppa and a chat. It was a treat to talk about all kinds of things with Phil in particular tricky bike jobs and our shared love of woodland places.
Phil will be sadly missed by me and many, many others around the world.

Hi Chaps,
I'm now in Aberdeen - so can't be there tomorrow, in person, but I'll be with you all, and with Boxerman, in my own way.
I'm sure you will all give Phil a brilliant send off.

I will be thinking of Phil, his family and friends tomorrow and will raise a glass to him.
It sounds like he will be getting a good send off.

Re: RIP Boxerman
Very sad to hear the news, A couple of years ago after a quick phone call to Phil we arranged for him to come over to my home to sort out my newly acquired R80 which was running as rough as hell. He had no problem with me watching as he transformed my bike into a Swiss watch. I learnt a lot that afternoon for a very reasonable fee. God bless you Boxerman you will be missed.

Re: RIP Boxerman
Just come back to the forum and read this sad news. I only met Phil once when he serviced my mate's R1100R but it was immediately apparent he was a real character. Those sort of people who have real skills and knowledge are a pleasure to meet and we left after a very nice morning with him.
Prayers to the family.
