Very sad news. Phil worked on my bike to get it roadworthy after I bought it. He will be sadly missed. RIP Phil.

Well what a shocker.
I never met him but he like so many other members always came across as a real nice guy.

Hi gogs01
asked "Without meaning to be insensitive - will his passing have any effect on the forum ?"

In truth I dont know-- Bryce, Nick, Keith and I can keep the club going, but the forum maybe a different matter. This is because Phil did the forum maintenance and access rights.

It's not just the forum, Phil's BM Bikes website with all the model information etc.

Oh wow, when did this happen?
I met him once when I spent a day with him whilst he serviced my bike. His wood and his animals will be missing him.

Can't say how sad I am. Phil was a gentlemans gentleman. The world is a much sadder place without him. He will be sadly missed.

A total shock! Phil was just down the A46 a bit from me and I first met him when he came over to service my newly-acquired R80RT in 2006. He subsequently helped me out on a few jobs and there was always a cup of tea and chat at his place while he was spannering. RIP Phil.

I only met Phil a couple of times many years back, when I first had an Airhead, but he was a genuine enthusiast as shown by this Forum. The BMW world will be weaker without him.
I am glad that in recent times he gained his forest as that was an obvious passion for him

Very saddened to hear that Phil has passed away although he has obviously been ill for a while. I have never managed to fall out with Phil despite several attempts over the years and the BMW fraternity will be a much poorer place without him. Phil was always understanding of others and whilst somewhat irracible at times was very much one of the good guys. He will be sadly missed and I would like it if details of his funeral could be published if possible. RIP

I have only Just picked this post up. What a shock! it was only last week we communicated re falling over in his woodland. Our most sincere condolences. I have been a member of BM Riders for many years and always enjoyed Phil's company and wise words while enjoying the events which Phil organised and will be very grateful for introducing me to BMWs and many friend and associates within the club. RIP Phil.

I'm stunned.
I haven't been around this forum for long, but Phil's posts, if few and far between, were always helpful. Reading this news came as a shock, I felt I knew the man and he had become a good "forum buddy".

Very sad.
My deepest sympathy to his loved ones.
