Haven't heard anything since the update above so would assume that there's no change since then.

I'm sure you'll all be glad of any positive news ?

Well Pats coming ourt of Hospital soon and Fran is leaving work to care for him as although medically, he's okay he has a lot of recuperation still to do and needs a contant "presence" around him just in case of mishaps

As strange as it may seem being so badly hurt on a bike (20th MAr 2008) it seems that Pat's being home more often is regenerating his memory I recieved this from Fran this afternoon :-
Today he asked about his bike, This is the first time he has mentioned it.

He was sitting in the car waiting to go back to the hospital and he asked me a question. I did not understand what he asked.

He then did the actions of opening the throttle on the bike. I copped on that he was talking about the bike as he must have realised that it should have been in the driveway.

I told him that he was involved in an accident and had been in hospital.

He then started to talk about it and wanted to know how it got back after the accident.

Had an update from Fran a few days ago.

It seems that progress is still continuing - they been away for a few days break.

Here's a photo taken only last week of Pat doing one of his favourite things... and looking remarkably well and like the Pat we all know.

Having just re-read my post I think maybe I should have clarified a little more...

What you see is the physical improvement which appears to be great - there are massive improvements all round but the ol' fella has a long way to go yet so don't get too carried away..

Be great if Pat & Fran could make Killala - we could all walk him up to the Pub.....

I just got a mail from Fran

Pats still doing well and is going in to hospital to have a plate fitted

He's trying to read the forum and he's remembering things but only here and there

MAy I make the suggestion that we have a "Pat" gallery? In a seperate thread with only photos and comments from Posters no additional comments form others they should go in this or yat another thread???

Who'd have believed a year ago that our friend would make the progress that he has?

I must have made an impression on him, as he seemd to recognise my Avatar and when Pat said that's Jay He said "He's from the North!" I can tell you it brought a tear to me Eye

So Keep Going Pat we're all still thinking of You Ifyou're making it to Killala I'll be over to see you and help ya repel the invading hooligans from Engerland as you call it!

P.S. I still have a Dinky bottle of Jemmies that I'd sneaked into the St James' Hospital for ya but decided that some fecker would steal it while yas slept! So I brought it home so ya can have it next time I make it till see ya!

Good Luck!

Hia Jay, haven't seen you about for a while, hope you're doing ok ??

Grand idea for Pat to see some pictures and using the forum, helps him think a bit I hope.

I'll start the ball rolling and make it a sticky to save him searching up and down. Most of the images will have been seen before by him, but it'll do him good to be reminded!

So Anymore photos of Pat? from the trips that you did PLease post them to the link above

Right Update from Fran

Pats op to replace the skull fragment with a titaniium plate has been successful
I think Pat has gone off the drink.

Our grandchild was being christened on Sunday and Pat refused a drink.

He would not even take a Jameson even though it was at his elbow.

Maybe it is just as well as he is on medication.

I persuaded him to take a glass of wine but he was making a face when he drank it.

Here is a photo of him feeding his face. You would not think anything was wrong with him.

Had an encouraging mail from Fran the other day.....
Hello Phil
Took Pat over to see his sister in Gloucester and we went on the ferry with Alison and Ben. It was an apportunity to see how he would be on the ferry. On the way to the port he directed Ben every step of the way and when we were coming in to Holyhead he was telling us where exactly the boat was going to berth. Looks like some part of his memory is coming back. The boat was very rocky and it was impossible to walk. The facilities for disabled were not brilliant. I would not have managed on my own without the help of the others. i was thinking of going on the ferry with him myself and the car but that would be too much for me at present. We returned by plane as Alsion was staying there until Sunday
We had a good time there.
Frances
