Givi Top Box and rack R1250R

Postby Gareth » Sat Jan 25, 2020 9:29 pm

I have another question.

I want to fit a large Givi top box to my bike.

I’ve just been looking at Givi racks, and it appears that Givi simply supply a plate that fits to the official Motorrad luggage rack.

fits to...

So I take I should have specified the above rack on ordering my new bike?

The dealer was quite adamant that if I wanted any third-party parts – such as Givi – I would have to purchase them myself and bring to the shop (not deliver) if I wanted them fitted to my bike.

I did state I wanted a Givi top box. So I am a little surprised they didn’t advise me that I need to spec the luggage rack with my order. Don’t they know these things?

I have the Givi plate on my R1250R, you will need the BMW rack. Regarding your earlier enquiry about upwards gear changes without using the clutch you will have no trouble at all.

Cheers matchless

My order can no longer be changed. Waiting for a price as a Motorad accessory.

Disapponting the sales staff didn't know this.

Hi
I am sure you will enjoy the bike when it (and the good weather) arrives

BTW where in Scotland are you based, after all it is a BIG Country?

Cheers George.

Yeah, it’s a bit of a wait.
It’s a bit disappointing that the dealer doesn’t know what’s required to fit a Givi box. Not sure about the dealer – seems more interested in selling rip off gap insurance, but we’ll see.
The weather through January has been dreadful. I’m in North Ayrshire.
